Is bread a foundation for our cultures and sacred endeavours? Or is it mere flour and oil? Besides tasting good and relieving our hunger, is bread important? Let’s think about it. Stories from various civilizations and faiths will examine that question. We will end with a “Sharing of Bread”. Would you please bring some bread in some form, loaves, crackers, coffee cakes, kuchen, etc, something from another culture, perhaps from your heritage. It would be great if we could share a family recipe. The supermarket is filled with bread from many different ethnicities. There’s tacos, and cornbread and donuts, ciabatta, roti, challah, baguette, tortillas, naan, injera, pita, steamed buns, and buttermilk biscuits. If you are willing and able, would you bring some bread to share.
