UUC affirms that we will continue to support harm reduction and recovery efforts, to include:

  • Financial and in-kind support through financial and in-kind donations at the discretion of individual members.
  • Consideration and use of property for NA/AA meetings, SOAR planning sessions and the provision of services by SOAR or other entities which meet best practice standards.
  • Time and talent as volunteers, at the discretion of members.
  • Advocating for the development of evidence based services.
  • Challenging public stereotypes and harmful legislation at the state and local levels.
  • Educating ourselves and others on up to date best practices and anti-stigma work.
  • Working in partnership with people with SUD to ensure they have a seat at the table.

UUC encourages healthcare and other providers in the community to step forward and offer compassionate evidence-based treatment and prevention services to persons who inject drugs, including harm reduction services.

UUC pledges to educate members and the larger community about the impact of addiction on our community, the science of addiction and science-based treatment and prevention of addiction. UUC requests that other congregations and health facilities in the valley proactively educate members and affiliates about the science of addiction and science-based treatment and prevention, including compassionate harm reduction.
